We have multiple paths to the PSTN network including multiple carriers and multiple gateway interconnection points for the highest reliability. Momentum Telecom originates and terminates “off-network” calls with Tier-1 providers around the world.

Separation of SIP & RTP
This diagram illustrates the separation of SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) messaging and RTP (Real Time Protocol) streams. SIP is used to initiative communications between two endpoints, and voice / video is contained in the RTP stream. Once a PSTN call is negotiated by Momentum Telecom (SIP), the media (RTP) is directly setup between endpoints. The RTP stream does not need to relay off of Momentum’s Class 5 switching infrastructure.
Gateway Built Down to Customer
Momentum Telecom’s recommended voice appliance (EdgeMarc) does inbound/outbound QoS (Quality of Service) as it sits in front of the customer’s data network. It manages registration to multiple Momentum data centers and can act as a primary firewall or use a proxy ARP/bridge mode so that voice/data can converge on the same circuit without issues.
